Over the past several years, I have been the principal owner of a small management consulting firm, and I have been a stockholder in larger, national engineering and management consulting firms. On several occasions, Carl Taylor has successfully identified and attracted critical senior hires for our practices.
Carl spends a significant amount of time on the front end of an assignment to make sure that he understands the firm and the position. He works very closely with the members of my team and me to verify the experiences, skills, and qualitative characteristics required of the person to be successful in our organization. My past experience with internal recruiters magnifies the difference in the professional and independent services provided by Carl. While internal recruiters definitely serve an important corporate function, their judgment and discharge of their duties are too often influenced by the prevailing corporate culture, and yes internal politics.
